Comprehensive Bangkok Airport Guides

Bangkok International Airport is about 16 miles north of the city centre and is the main hub for Thailand and South-East Asia. More than 25 million travellers pass through the airport each year, making it one of the world's top 30 airports. There are two international terminals in addition to a domestic hub that is used by many low cost airlines in addition to Thai Airways. A complimentary shuttle service links the buildings, and there is also an air-conditioned walkway.

The new Bangkok airport opened in 2006, and is a huge building that is designed to make travel in the country much easier. It is modern and spacious and much simpler to navigate than its predecessor.

Tourist visas for Thailand are issued at the airport immigration desk, so there can be queues if several planes arrive at the same time, but changes to the arrivals procedure in the next few years should circumvent this problem.

Suvarnabhumi International Airport boasts a vast indoor shopping area that offers a mind-boggling range of duty free options where you can stock up on all your holiday essentials or pick up some good value souvenirs.
