Bangkok, the capital of Thailand offers so much to see and do, that it would take a whole lifetime to experience everything there. From temples and gilded palaces through to go-go bars and grimy market stalls, Bangkok is a city where every lifestyle is found and almost any conceivable character is seen everywhere.

Highlights of the city itself include the grand palace and temples, shopping on Sukhumvit Road, and Siam Square, and the Patpong Road night market where you can also partake in the sleazier side of Bangkok's infamous nightlife if you so choose.

Within reach of Bangkok proper are some of the countries most famous attractions including the legendary Siamese capital Ayutthaya and the iconic Bridge over the River Kwai, which contrary to what you might believe from the Alec Guinness movie, is perfectly intact.

Many travellers spend a few days in Bangkok on their way to a final destination elsewhere in Thailand, and some of the most popular choices include Phuket for families, Hua Hin and Cha Am for older couples looking for relaxation, Koh Samui for back packers, and Pattaya for singles. Other resorts like Hat Yai and Krabi are also popular with travellers looking for a more authentic experience.
